Job summary

Avangrid in Boston, MA, is seeking a Lead Engineer for Cloud and Generative AI to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure. You will work with data scientists to deploy AI models while ensuring security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based AI systems.

The role requires Terraform expertise, team mentorship, and staying current with GenAI developments to improve our systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing large scale complex network solutions.
• Three or more years of AI experience.
• Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer with a strong understanding of AWS and Azure.
• Proficiency in machine learning (ML) and AI models.
• Experience in Generative AI, including frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or .NET.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for IaC.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Expertise in vector databases and GenAI applications.
• Desirable knowledge of AI Agents, Langchain, Semantic Kernel, Spring AI

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and manages scalable cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and Azure.
• Collaborates with data scientists and AI researchers to deploy and optimize AI models.
• Ensures the security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based AI systems.
• Utilizes Terraform for IaC automation.
• Provides technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
• Remains current with AWS, Azure, and Generative AI advancements.
• Documents best practices, processes, and procedures.
• Supports Generative AI applications at scale.
