Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Sciences or Medical Technology required.
• Knowledge of a wide range of microbiological and serological techniques.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required; ASCP registration or equivalent desirable.
• Knowledge of Laboratory and hospital information system computers and equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies requirements and MMC policies and procedures.
• Must possess great communication skills and be able to manage highly stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Microbiology laboratory per shift.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies requirements and review quality control data.
• Maintain safety policies and procedures in alignment with MMC standards.
• Manage human resources: recruit, discipline, orient and train staff; evaluate competency.
• Promote a respectful work environment per Montefiore Excellence standards.
• Investigate issues and coordinate with staff to implement corrective actions.
• Oversee material management to ensure supplies are stocked and available.
