The Lead Climbing Wall Attendant is responsible for providing excellent assistance and training while facilitating the general operations of the Climbing Wall. This position educates students and community members about and ensures their compliance with Climbing Wall policies and procedures; provides climbing classes for the campus and community; receiving and channeling student input, concerns, and complaints to the appropriate areas; and monitoring the safety of patrons. This position reports to the Climbing Wall Student Manager and the Recreation Programs Manager.
$12.80/hour
Applicants should have at least one semester of experience as a Climbing Wall Attendant. Applicants must be available to work at least 8 hours per week during the semester and attend staff meetings and events as necessary, including multiple weekends per semester for special group rentals, and additional evening and weekend hours on an "as needed" basis. Experience with a variety of climbing gear, procedures, and safety precautions is necessary. Successful applicants must complete Adult CPR, AED, and First AID certification courses within 8 weeks of beginning employment. Certification sessions will be provided by the University Centers. These certifications must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers. Concussion Protocol Training will also be provided by the University Centers and must be completed within the same timeframe.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.
The Lead Attendant must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
