Job summary

Reactive Markets seeks a Lead ClickHouse Engineer to own the data plant, a multi-datacentre, multi-AZ ClickHouse estate ingesting billions of rows daily, underpinning compliance, billing, and analytics.

You'll lead cluster operations, schema design, capacity planning, and monitoring, while mentoring teammates. This is a core-platform, non-DBA role with Go/Python tooling, aiming for follow-the-sun operations and AI-assisted tooling.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with columnar/OLAP databases, especially ClickHouse or similar.
• Track record of owning architectural decisions for production data platforms.
• Strong SQL skills with large datasets and complex schemas.
• Operational/SRE experience including monitoring, capacity planning, incidents and recovery.
• Proficiency in Linux, Kubernetes, and at least one programming language (Python/Go).

Responsibilities

• Own cluster operations for a multi-AZ ClickHouse estate on Kubernetes.
• Design schemas, sorting keys, partitioning and materialised views for big datasets.
• Manage capacity, storage tiering, and observability with Grafana and alerts.
• Oversee ingestion pipelines and data quality with reliable runbooks.
• Lead and mentor engineers; ensure platform is supportable by a team.
• Explore AI-assisted operations to enhance platform efficiency.
