Job summary

Reactive Markets is hiring a ClickHouse Engineer to own a multi-datacentre data plant. You’ll design, operate and optimise a high‑volume analytics estate, spanning ingestion, storage, and complex queries across time‑series data.

The role supports a follow-the-sun team in London or Singapore, with on-call responsibilities harmonised across time zones. You should bring deep columnar/OLAP experience, strong SQL skills, and a track record running production data platforms.

Qualifications

• Columnar/OLAP database engineering with ClickHouse or similar.
• SQL execution plans, large dataset design and optimization.
• Production data platform ownership: monitoring, capacity, incidents, recovery.
• Linux and Kubernetes as the operational base for the DB.
• Programming in Python, Go, R or MATLAB; Python preferred.
• Engineering discipline: proposals, architecture docs and change management.
• Git version-control excellence.
• Distributed-systems fundamentals: replication and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Operate and upgrade a multi-AZ ClickHouse estate on Kubernetes, with backup/recovery.
• Design schema, sorting keys, partitions, materialised views and queries for mega datasets.
• Maintain capacity model, storage tiering and Grafana monitoring/alerts.
• Ensure data ingestion quality and reconciliation across pipelines.
• Isolate workloads to protect ingest, reporting and ad-hoc analytics.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to scale operations while preserving safety.
