Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Lead Civil Structural Engineer in our Engineering department to design and detail foundations for substation structures, including mats and piers and overhead towers. You will apply client standards and QA/QC practices while coordinating with other disciplines in a collaborative setting.

The role requires a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree, 6+ years of experience, and a PE certificate.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 6+ years of civil structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineering certificate (PE) required or in process.
• Experience with transmission, distribution, and generation projects is a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; ability to select appropriate software.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail mat and pier foundations for substation structures.
• Create substation structures from equipment supports to overhead towers.
• Apply codes and client standards to general arrangements, layouts, elevations, and plans.
• Develop steel models for rigid bus and equipment supports; QA/QC processes.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and lead client meetings/site visits.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to project management activities.
