Job summary

N3B Los Alamos is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to lead design on civil and structural projects in Los Alamos, NM. The role covers on-site and office work, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and mentoring junior engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of roadway, grading, drainage, structural and utility design, plus the ability to obtain required security clearance. Excellent communication and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• 5 years of responsible charge civil/structural engineering experience for Level 3, including design calculations and technical writing.
• Have at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated leadership and high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform field investigations and assessments; prepare drawings and visual aids.
• Drafting and figure development using technical software.
• Apply established design criteria to Civil/Structural projects; mentor junior staff.
• Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, forms, and procedures; apply codes and standards.
• Communicate effectively with team, clients, and regulators; ensure safety and quality in all tasks.
• Ensure security, safety, and training requirements are followed; ability to obtain L-level DOE security clearance.
