Job summary

NYS Office of General Services seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to analyze and appraise structural designs for large, complex, multi-trade building projects in Albany. You will guide engineers and drafters, review design changes, manage schedules, and coordinate with other technical disciplines to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires NYS PE license, a qualifying degree in civil/structural engineering, and at least one year of relevant experience; travel up to 20%

Qualifications

• Must hold a New York State Professional Engineer license and current registration.
• Qualifying degree: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with related concentration.
• One year of full-time engineering experience in the analysis and design of steel framing, concrete framing, foundations and seismic design.
• Resume must include month and year for start/end dates; if part-time, indicate hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and appraise structural designs and specifications for large, complex building projects.
• Identify structural design problems and provide cost-effective solutions.
• Review structural design change orders during design and construction phases.
• Supervise Building Structural Engineers and Drafting Technicians.
• Coordinate drawings, specifications and cost estimates with other disciplines.
• Manage project schedules according to workload and design timelines.
• Review reports, drawings and cost estimates prepared by consultants.
• Oversee consultant design work and maintain project documentation.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs; perform construction administration.
• Assign, review and manage consultant design work.
• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
