Job summary

Dewberry seeks a Civil Engineer - Deputy Project Manager for our Lanham, Maryland office. You will lead multidisciplinary design teams on development and infrastructure projects, from concept through construction, ensuring technical quality and schedule adherence.

The role requires a PE, 7+ years of civil engineering design and strong project-management skills. You will coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal teams, overseeing budgets, scopes and schedules in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Project Management experience; ability to manage multi-disciplined teams.
• At least 7 years of civil engineering design experience; Maryland permitting a plus.
• Working knowledge of civil design procedures, agency standards and permitting.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience developing scope, budget and schedule.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Experience with public agencies required; private sector a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to work in fast-paced team with deadlines.
• Self-motivated with initiative and drive.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of project delivery, including stormwater management, grading, and utility design.
• Oversees, mentors and assigns tasks to junior engineers.
• Prepare project scopes, schedules, and fee proposals, with accountability for budgets and delivery and performs technical quality control.
• Coordinates with work of other disciplines assigned to the project.
• Communicates effectively with clients and contractors to ensure goals are met.
• Schedules, leads and attends meetings, conducts site visits/field inspections.
• Produces engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
• Manage projects from concept through construction completion, coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Participate in field meetings and provide support during construction. Reviews shop drawings and responses to RFIs.
