Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Lead Chassis Structure Analyst to join the Chassis Systems and Driveline VDDV team. You will lead structural analysis for chassis, suspension, and driveline, connecting component physics to full-vehicle performance through advanced simulations.

You will perform FEA to evaluate strength, stiffness, durability, and NVH, conduct fatigue analyses, and develop test profiles while collaborating with design engineers to deliver robust, optimized components.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering.
5+ years of CAE engineering experience.
Three years of NASTRAN, OptiStruct and Abaqus experience.
High proficiency with CAE modeling tools (HyperWorks/ANSA).
Experience with structural fatigue theory and tools (DesignLife/nCode preferred).
Familiarity with CAE and CAD integration.
Strong oral and written communication skills for technical issues.
Understanding of engineering theory and mechanisms.

Responsibilities

Lead structural analysis of chassis, suspension, and driveline for design development and virtual validation.
Perform FEA to evaluate strength, stiffness, durability, and NVH.
Conduct fatigue analysis and develop block cycle test profiles.
Collaborate with design engineers to develop technical solutions.
Specify and balance system-level requirements.
Support test development and root cause analysis.
Lead CAE project management with supplier teams.
Present results and recommendations in design reviews.
Participate in PDTs for chassis, suspension and steering; collaborate with PVITs.
Engage in CAE focus groups to advance techniques and tools.
Document and archive results for traceability.
