GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This position is responsible for driving loyalty results, including credit, through performance, people, and process focus. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate inspections, and cashier chat in/outs, emphasizing guest experience, process excellence, and achieving sales and loyalty goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The LC champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

Performance
  • Contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
  • Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Support guest services like makeup applications and product demonstrations.
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to enhance guest experience and sales.
  • Maintain replenishment and organization of cashwrap displays and supplies.
  • Maintain prompt attendance.
People
  • Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
  • Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate inspections.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and product benefits.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program and create excitement around credit and loyalty goals.
  • Train new cashiers and cross-train associates.
  • Engage and influence peers to achieve performance goals.
  • Drive cashier accountability for delivering the Ulta Beauty experience.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Collaborate to grow the business.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to dress code.
  • Complete transactions accurately and control cash/media.
  • Perform register opening/closing as directed.
  • Maintain store standards and cleanliness.
  • Protect assets and minimize loss.
  • Execute other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.

Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
  • Passion for guest service and selling.
  • Experience in exceeding sales goals and training.

Skills

  • Proficient with POS systems and Apple devices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Adaptability under pressure.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be 18+ years old.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Mobility throughout the store.
  • Frequent bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and reaching.
