Lead Carpenter – Commercial Construction
- Pay: $45–$50 per hour
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Location: Pennsylvania, New Jersey & Delaware
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing commercial construction team. This is a hands‑on position for a skilled carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship, works independently, and can effectively coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Install commercial doors, frames, hardware, trim, millwork, and cabinetry
- Perform metal and wood framing
- Install drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and finish materials
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
- Take accurate measurements and complete jobsite layouts
- Cut, fit, install, and finish construction materials
- Complete punch‑list and project closeout work
- Identify and correct installation and quality issues
- Coordinate daily activities with project managers and site supervisors
- Work effectively with subcontractors and other trades
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Properly use and maintain hand and power tools
- Follow OSHA, company, and project‑specific safety requirements
- Help keep projects on schedule and meet quality standards
- Perform other carpentry and construction duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of commercial carpentry experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction and finish carpentry
- Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and install materials
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel throughout PA, NJ, and DE
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, climb, and perform physical construction work for extended periods
- Ability to safely work on ladders and at elevated heights
- Dependable, professional, punctual, and safety‑conscious
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 certification
- OSHA 30 certification
- Previous Lead Carpenter or Foreman experience
- Commercial construction experience
- Experience coordinating with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and trades
- Experience with commercial doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and finish carpentry
- Knowledge of commercial building codes and safety requirements
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry materials weighing 50+ pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, kneel, reach, climb, and work in various positions
