Pay Range

This range is provided by Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$13.00/hr - $14.50/hr

Position Summary

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Ensures a quality experience for children and parents, aligned with YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Creates a safe, positive environment that promotes safety and engagement according to YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  1. Supervises children, maintaining awareness of each child's whereabouts and safety.
  2. Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with YMCA values.
  3. Follows safety and cleanliness standards.
  4. Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
  5. Adheres to YMCA policies, including those related to medical issues, discipline, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  6. Completes accident/incident reports as needed.
  7. Maintains positive relationships with parents and staff, demonstrating relationship-building skills.
  8. Reinforces children's actions positively to promote safety and self-esteem.
  9. Builds effective relationships with campers and parents, fostering connections with the YMCA.
  10. Collaborates with team members.
  11. Maintains professionalism in attitude and appearance.
  12. Performs other duties as necessary for the success of the YMCA.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 18 years of age.
  2. Experience working with children.
  3. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  4. Completion of required trainings.
  5. Ability to effectively relate to diverse groups of people.
Physical Demands
  1. Ability to lead activities in indoor and outdoor settings.
  2. Lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
  3. Ability to see, hear, and assist to ensure safety.
