Job Title: Day Camp Site Director
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Seasonal: June 1-August 29, 2025
Pay: $1200/week
Hours: 7:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday (based on daily needs)
Location: Haverford College, Haverford, PA
Reports to: President/COO

This position is ideal for someone based in the Philadelphia/suburban region with experience as a day camp director, independent school auxiliary camp director, youth development, niche activity-based or YMCA camp director.

What You’ll Do:
This is a summer seasonal leadership position, reporting to the President/COO. The Day Camp Director at the Haverford College location leads all aspects of the summer program for DEAN, ensuring an outstanding camp experience for 150–300 weekly campers and 30–50 staff members each week.

This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and adaptability. The role is perfect for a candidate who has managed a team of 30–50 counselors and camp operations for 150–300 campers a week.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Camp Site Director, you’ll lead an engaging, inclusive, and high-energy summer program that fosters fun, creativity, and skill-building. Your responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing daily camp operations to ensure a safe, structured, and exciting environment
  • Leading and mentoring assistant camp directors, counselors and Counselors-in-Training (CITs)
  • Communicating with families, providing updates, and addressing concerns professionally
  • Problem-solving on the go, adjusting counselor schedules, resolving conflicts, and leading activities
  • Creating a positive camp culture that promotes kindness, inclusion, and personal growth
  • Manage supplies and inventory, troubleshooting material needs and ensuring all resources are available
  • Conduct on-site staff training and performance evaluations to uphold camp standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison between DEAN Adventure Camps and Haverford College, ensuring alignment and collaboration

Schedule and Requirements:

  • June 1 – August 29
  • Monday–Friday, approx. 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be fully vaccinated and up to date on all immunizations
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, respond quickly to emergencies, and work in an active, outdoor environment
  • First Aid & CPR certification required (training reimbursement provided)
  • Pass necessary background checks
  • Consistent and prompt attendance
  • Compliance with the provisions of the DEAN Handbook
