Job summary

JLL in Slidell, LA is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to oversee the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and supports the engineering team with supervision, training, and safety initiatives.

The position runs on a 7am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday schedule and requires on-site presence. A strong blend of maintenance skills and leadership will be essential to keep systems reliable and safe while

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related work experience in building operations.
• Trade school education or equivalent training preferred.
• EPA Universal CFC certification or plan to obtain within first year.
• Leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 feet.
• Strong customer service skills and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Supervise and train engineering staff.
• Manage CMMS work orders and tenant requests.
• Support on-call or emergency response.
• Troubleshoot building systems including DDC and pneumatic controls.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Participate in safety and operational trainings.
• Perform other maintenance tasks as assigned.
