Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking an experienced Lead Building Automation Design Engineer for our Atlanta, GA team. You will lead the design of complex BAS projects from concept through implementation, providing technical guidance to engineers, designers, project managers, and field technicians.

The role requires Niagara N4 certification and extensive experience in BAS design, HVAC controls, and related systems. You will coordinate with consultants, contractors, PMs, and customers to ensure successful

Qualifications

• Niagara N4 certification is required.
• 5+ years experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara N4.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, control sequences, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with BAS networks and protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, architectural, and control drawings.
• Experience developing points lists, sequences of operation, and control schematics.
• Strong AutoCAD or comparable BAS design software skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of complex Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial and institutional facilities.
• Develop BAS system architectures, network layouts, controller selections, and system schematics.
• Design HVAC control strategies and sequences for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.
• Develop detailed control drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, wiring diagrams, and submittals.
• Design and configure Tridium Niagara N4 solutions.
• Review drawings for design coordination across disciplines.
• Translate project specs into practical BAS designs.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with consulting engineers, mechanical/electrical contractors, PMs, and customers.
• Support project teams during installation, programming, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Review submittals, RFIs, COs, and design revisions.
• Ensure BAS designs meet codes, standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of complex Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial and institutional facilities.


• Develop BAS system architectures, network layouts, controller selections, and system schematics.


• Design HVAC control strategies and sequences for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, central plants, and other mechanical systems.


• Develop detailed control drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, wiring diagrams, and engineering submittals.


• Design and configure Tridium Niagara N4 solutions.


• Review mechanical, electrical, architectural, and control drawings for design coordination.


• Translate project specifications and engineering requirements into practical BAS designs.


• Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.


• Coordinate with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, project managers, and customers.


• Support project teams during installation, programming, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.

• Identify design risks and develop effective technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Niagara N4 certification is required.
