Job summary

H. T. PROF Group is seeking a Building Automation Controls Software Engineer for the Rocky Hill, CT area to design, program, test, and commission BAS for HVAC and integrated systems. The role involves independent work under the Operations and Engineering Manager, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

The candidate will support system monitoring interfaces, diagnose issues, and maintain project documentation to meet design specs and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Programming, monitoring, and installing BAS, including HVAC and integrated systems.
  • Updating and maintaining the graphical web interface for system monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC and computer/controller systems.
  • Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and integration.
  • Compile and maintain as-built drawings, closeout documentation, and system records; ensure regulatory compliance.

Job description

Our client is seeking aBuilding Automation Controls Software Engineer.The ideal candidate will work independently under the guidance of the Operations and Engineering Manager, focusing on engineering new DDC projects and supporting various building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC systems. This role involves a range of tasks from system programming to troubleshooting and commissioning, all while ensuring high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Programming, monitoring, and installing building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC and integrated systems.
  • Updating and maintaining the graphical web interface for system monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC and computer/controller systems.
  • Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and integration.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Compile and maintain as-built drawings, closeout documentation, and system records.
    • Ensure systems comply with design specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Work independently and as part of a project team to meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure customer satisfaction and high standards of quality.
Position Qualifications:

  • Required Experience
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in programming, with five (5) years preferred.
    • Experience with building automation systems, including HVAC, is essential.
  • Educational Requirements
    • A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology is a plus.
  • Certifications & Skills
    • Tridium AX certification highly preferred.
    • Experience with temperature control systems (Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Schneider, Siemens) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with BACnet, DDC, Niagara AX, ALC, Siemens, or Metasys is preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Visio, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Experience with AutoCAD and PDF software is a plus.
