Job summary

Baker Group seeks an experienced Automation professional to provide start-up, programming and commissioning for building automation systems. You will work with engineers, technicians and purchasers to deliver projects on schedule.

You will interpret sequences, write ladder logic, mentor junior technicians, and lead medium to large projects while ensuring safety and quality across systems. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of Automation related field experience
• Associate degree or equivalent on the job experience
• Knowledge of Windows Office applications
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL or other database applications preferred
• Knowledge of Ethernet and serial network protocols and hardware configurations
• Understanding of basic process controls (PID, motor control)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design, operation engineers, purchasers and staff
• Start-up of microprocessor based control components and sensors
• Interpret SOO and apply to program logic
• Read/write ladder logic, structured text, function block programming
• Mentor and oversee Automation Technician I and II
• Lead medium to large projects
• Point-to-point wiring checks and proper grounding/power
• Set up/ calibration of sensors and transducers
• Upload/download and modify control software
• Configure networking (IP, subnet, MAC) and communications
• Create and troubleshoot automation networks and graphics
• Develop dashboards and graphical front ends
