Job summary

Kokosing Construction seeks a Lead Construction Design Engineer to develop temporary civil and structural designs for bridge and infrastructure projects. This role can be based in Richmond, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD and requires a PE license and at least 10 years of design experience.

You will lead design engineers and CAD modelers, coordinate with field personnel, clients, and vendors, and deliver safe, economical engineering solutions while aligning with owner specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering field.
• Professional Engineer license in Virginia and/or Maryland; ability to obtain other states.
• Minimum 10 years of design experience in temporary construction works (shoring, erection, demolition) for bridge/highway projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, RISA-3D, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and review temporary construction engineering designs for safety, constructability, and code compliance.
• Provide leadership and direction to other design engineers and CAD modelers.
• Coordinate with clients, owners, vendors, consultants, and field personnel to develop safe, economical engineering solutions.
• Work with operations to optimize means and methods and develop efficient designs.
• Manage project submittals, schedules, and pre-bid cost estimates.
• Represent Kokosing during client and project management meetings.
