Job summary

WSP USA in Kansas City seeks a Bridge Engineering Department Manager to lead and grow the local structural design team, focusing on highway bridges in Kansas and Missouri. This role sits within our Transportation Team and will coordinate with regional resources to deliver complex projects.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in bridge-focused structural engineering, PE licensure in KS/MO, and proven leadership in design teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
P.E. registration in Kansas and/or Missouri and ability to acquire in other states.
15+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering with an emphasis on bridges.
Strong technical skills and background in bridge design, roadway, and KDOT/MoDOT design standards.
Ability to demonstrate leadership experience – in a design team or personnel management role.
Accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects and leading design teams in delivering high quality projects.

Responsibilities

Lead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on Kansas and Missouri highway structures.
Actively maintain project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projects.
Mentoring, training and develop of staff and others performing similar work.
Coordinate with project team and perform QC/QA reviews.
Visit clients to grow business and keep stakeholders informed of opportunities.
Oversee technical proposals, develop leads and draft letters of interest.
