  • Conduct mid-year and year-end performance reviews.

Job description

This Opportunity

WSP is looking for a Bridge Engineering Department Manager for our Kansas City office. This candidate will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. This role is an opportunity to grow a structural design team locally while being supported by an extensive regional and national practice.

Your Impact
  • Lead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on Kansas and Missouri highway structures
  • Actively maintain project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projects
  • Mentoring, training and develop of staff and others performing similar work
  • Ability to provide close coordination with others on the project as well as independent QC/QA reviews
  • Visiting clients for growing our business and long-term positioning and keeping these clients and other team members well informed of upcoming opportunities
  • Work with marketing staff to oversee and lead technical proposals, including the development of leads, cultivating relationships with decision makers, and drafting compelling letters of interest.
  • Representing WSP at targeted professional society meetings, including presenting at conferences as appropriate and approved
  • Track and monitor structural staff utilization, coordinating with team leads and project managers to provide appropriate forecasts
  • Perform mid-year reviews and year end performance reviews of staff
  • Other duties as assigned
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • P.E. registration in Kansas and/or Missouri and ability to acquire in other states
  • 15+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering with an emphasis on bridges
  • Strong technical skills and background in bridge design, roadway, and KDOT/MoDOT design standards
