Job summary

JBA International seeks an experienced Paralegal Litigation Labor and Employment in Santa Monica to support a complex civil docket from inception through trial. This in-office role requires bilingual English/Spanish, the ability to manage a high-volume calendar, supervise one to two legal assistants, and coordinate with courts, opposing counsel and clients.

You will prepare filings, manage discovery, and assist attorneys with deposition and trial preparation, with strict adherence to deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years paralegal experience in complex civil litigation in California.
• Full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
• Experience supervising legal assistants or support staff.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal court rules and e-filing procedures.
• Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven calendars.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex litigation caseload from inception through trial with minimal attorney oversight.
• Supervise one to two legal assistants and assign tasks to meet deadlines.
• Serve as primary contact for Spanish-speaking clients and others, in English and Spanish.
• Coordinate court filings in CA state and federal courts, including e-filing and service.
• Support attorneys in deposition and hearing preparation, including exhibits and witness materials.
• Identify potential issues and anticipate attorney needs.
