Job summary

Hibiscus Children’s Center in Florida seeks a shift supervisor to provide supervision and support to Shelter youth/child care staff. The role uses the Sanctuary Model for trauma-informed care and leadership alignment across staff, clients, families, and the community.

The position requires supervisory experience, a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, and certifications in CPR, First Aid, and TCI.

Qualifications

  • Two years supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum two years experience with at risk children/teens.
  • CPR, First Aid and TCI certification required.
  • Pass level 2 background clearance and drug test.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be 23 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Behavioral Health Technicians with on-site guidance and corrections.
  • Determine staff-to-client ratio and assign groups.
  • Assign specific duties and ensure completion of tasks.
  • Maintain and review daily shift activity schedule; arrange transportation as needed.
  • Maintain nursing directives and charts; record pertinent client information.
  • Document staffing concerns and propose solutions to administration.
  • Communicate essential information to Supervisor/Assistant Director.
  • Conduct shift-change meetings and provide direction to volunteers.
  • Ensure admissions are completed properly and prompt medicals when nurses unavailable.
  • Communicate with clients’ therapists and notify On-Call Administrator of incidents.
  • Keep Shelter clean and organized; ensure reports are complete and signed.
  • Complete probationary and annual evaluations; assist with staffing schedules.
  • Dispense medications to clients when nurse is unavailable.
  • Assist in meal preparation and attend agency meetings.

POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW:The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision and support to the Shelter youth/child care staff on a given shift.Hibiscus Children’s Center utilizes the Sanctuary Model, which is a trauma informed organizational change model. The Sanctuary Model organizes both our treatment ante the way we run our organization. It is an inclusive model as it is a way of guiding leadership, staff, clients families and our community to share the same language.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Technicians with on-site verbal and written guidance and corrections, where neededVisible and accessible to all Behavioral Health Technicians during shiftAbility to determine staff to client ratio and assign client groups to individual Behavioral Health TechniciansAssigns specific duties to Behavioral Health Technicians (varies on each shift) and ensures that duties are completedReviews shift activity schedule for any changes and/or additions. Makes transportation arrangements, as neededReviews, maintains and updates the daily logbook with pertinent client information.Ensures all nursing directives are followed (sick charts, stool specs, infant care sheets, etc.)Notes and recommends solutions to any staffing concerns, behavioral problems and/or shift difficulties and notifies administration of concerns and gives input for solutionsCommunicates all necessary information to Supervisor/Assistant DirectorPerforms walk-through prior to the start of shift and communicates concerns with previous shift supervisorConducts a shift change meeting with assigned staff to address concernsProvides direction and guidance to volunteersEnsures that all admissions are completed properly and that the admission medical is completed as soon as possible ( if Nurse if not available)Communicates and documents all necessary information related to clients to their individual therapistCommunicates and notifies the On-Call Administrator of all non-routine incidentsEnsures that the Shelter is clean and organized throughout the course of their shiftEnsures that all reports are correct, complete and turned-in signed at the end of the shiftCompletes probationary and annual evaluations on timeAssist Office Manager with preparing staffing schedulesResponsible for dispensing meds to clients when nurse is not availableAssist in preparing client’s mealsAttends and participates in agency meetings including treatment plansThis list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be exhaustive.
