Job summary

SiFly Aviation, Inc. is seeking a lead engineer for battery packs and high-current distribution to advance our vertical-takeoff drones. This hands-on role spans cell selection, pack architecture, thermal and electrical design, and BMS tuning on the bench.

You will work with manufacturing partners and safety testing to meet NDAA-compliant requirements, including UN 38.3 and IEC 62133. Expect on-site work in Santa Clara, CA, with close collaboration across hardware, QA, and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Candidate has electrical engineering depth with high-energy battery systems.
• Experience taking a Li-ion pack from cell selection to a shipping product.
• Experience with BMS electronics and firmware behavior.
• Hands-on bench capability for instrumenting packs and thermal characterization.
• Battery safety test experience and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Drive pack architecture and future cell evaluations.
• Characterize pack designs on the bench and analyze thermal paths.
• Specify BMS hardware and firmware requirements and failure modes.
• Own charger architecture and charge-rate strategy.
• Drive battery safety analysis, test campaigns, and documentation (UN 38.3, IEC 62133).
• Lead hardware analysis: DFMEA, derating, thermal margin.
• Support Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain through NPI and ramp.
