Total Aviation Staffing, LLC is partnering with an aviation startup to hire a hands-on Technical Lead for battery-system engineering at Eagle Field Airport, Firebaugh, CA. The role requires coordinating mechanical, thermal, electronics/BMS, charging, and hybrid disciplines with CTO-level oversight.

• 8+ years in battery development with full program ownership.

• Translate vehicle power and energy needs into battery requirements and margins.
• Lead development and verification of cell and pack performance, life, mass, packaging and serviceability.
• Define interfaces for charging, high-voltage, thermal and hybrid controls.
• Coordinate cell characterization and pack hardware development.
• Lead supplier readiness and design-risk reviews.
• Run multidisciplinary design reviews and improve test measurement quality, repeatability and verification evidence.

Schedule: Full-time. On-site or hybrid; hands-on development and integration work with coordinated visits to Eagle Field.

About the opportunity

Our client is a growing aviation startup building a hybrid-electric drive-and-fly vehicle. They need a hands-on technical lead to own battery-system engineering, from pack architecture and cell selection to operating limits and delivery by the battery team.

You'll work within the engineering organization under the CTO's technical leadership, coordinating mechanical, thermal, electronics/BMS, charging, hybrid-power and test specialists. Hiring is targeted for year-end 2026.

What you'll do
