Job summary

American Battery Solutions Inc. is seeking a Senior BMS Hardware Design Engineer in Lake Orion, MI.

You will lead the hardware design, architecture, and validation of BMS electronics for advanced energy storage applications, collaborating with software, systems, cell, and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include defining requirements, leading DFMEA, and driving design maturity through production release.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or a bachelor’s with 2 years of equivalent experience in BMS, battery systems, embedded hardware or power electronics.
• Minimum of five years of engineering experience in BMS, battery systems, embedded hardware, or power electronics.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and architecture of BMS hardware, including cell sensing, protection, control, and interface circuitry.
• Lead PCB layout reviews and board-level hardware bring-up, including initial power-on, measurements, debugging, and rework.
• Define and document BMS hardware requirements, specifications, and interface control documents with systems engineering.
• Conduct design risk assessments and DFMEA, tolerance analyses, and worst-case circuit evaluation.
• Lead hardware validation strategies, including functional verification and fault-injection testing.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware-software interface issues (CAN, SPI, I2C, ADCs) with embedded software teams.
• Mentor engineers, establish design standards, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
