American Battery Solutions Inc. is seeking an Electrical Hardware Technician in Lake Orion, MI.

The role supports development and validation of automotive Battery Management Systems (BMS) in a lab setting, building, testing, and iterating PCBAs while assisting engineers with testing and ECO updates. The candidate will work with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, CAN tools, and other test equipment, ensuring compliant lab practices and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics/Electrical Technology or equivalent certificate.
• Minimum 3 years experience in electronics, electrical hardware, or lab testing.
• Experience operating oscillosopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads.
• Hands-on soldering and rework of PCBs (SMT and through-hole); IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 familiarity preferred.
• CAN tools and interfaces used for hardware communication.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams; strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, rework, and repair PCBAs, including SMT and through-hole soldering.
• Assemble, wire, and maintain lab test benches and fixtures for BMS hardware validation.
• Support functional testing and characterization of BMS boards with test equipment; document results.
• Use CAN tools to communicate with, monitor, and debug BMS hardware.
• Diagnose hardware faults and support root-cause investigations with hardware engineers.
• Update PCBAs to implement ECOs and design revisions.
• Maintain records of builds, modifications, test procedures, and calibration status.
• Maintain a safe, organized lab environment following ESD and battery-handling practices.
• Assist engineers with prototype assembly, cable harness fabrication, and general lab tasks.
• Adhere to federal/state regulations and company policies.
• Predictable attendance.
