Job summary

Ørsted seeks a senior electrical engineer to lead specialized activities for battery energy storage system projects across development, construction, and operations. You’ll shape system design, SCADA/EMS integration, grid compliance, and continuous improvements to asset performance.

Collaborating with development, construction, operations, procurement, and OT teams, you’ll work with contractors and vendors to ensure technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Strong electrical engineering knowledge and experience with battery energy storage system SCADA design.
• Understanding of inverter-based resource requirements and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to integrate BESS with SCADA, EMS, controls, communications, and grid interfaces.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel within the Americas and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead preliminary design, optimization, technology selection, sizing, augmentation planning, and lifecycle modeling of BESS.
• Act as technical resource for energy storage projects from development to commercial operation, focusing on SCADA, automation, and EMS integration.
• Ensure robust integration with grid requirements, BESS controls, SCADA systems, EMS, and utility interfaces.
• Support project delivery through design reviews, site visits, construction meetings, root cause analysis, and technical remediation.
• Lead cost estimates and support EPC and integrator procurement activities including specifications and design reviews.
• Collaborate across internal teams, contractors, and vendors to clarify requirements, mitigate risk, improve reliability, and deliver practical engineering solutions.
