Job summary

Regions is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance across banking and regulatory matters. This role requires partnering with executive leadership and business units to deliver practical, risk-aware advice and to shape policies that support Regions’ growth and integrity.

The position reports to the Legal Department, located at Regions Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree or equivalent.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (bar admission).
• Ten (10) years of legal experience in regulatory, financial services, or banking law.

Responsibilities

• Partners with business units and executive leadership to provide practical legal advice on complex banking matters.
• Provides strategic, pragmatic, and expert legal advice to business units.
• Advises senior management on interpretation of laws and regulations and changes
• Monitors emerging legislative developments that may affect the Bank
• Drafts policies and procedures on new regulations or interpretations
• Mentors and directs outside counsel and staff as needed
• Develops relationships across the organization to support legal function ownership
