Job summary

Valley Bank, a leading growth-focused relationship bank, seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal support across SMB lending, Private Bank products, and consumer/residential mortgage lines. This role requires JD and active bar membership, with experience in banking regulatory matters and in-house corporate experience preferred.

The attorney will advise on lending transactions, document drafting, and regulatory compliance, partnering with lending, risk, and operations teams

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to SMB lending and credit teams for commercial loans and credit facilities.
• Support Private Bank lending products and residential mortgage teams with transactional expertise.
• Draft, review, and negotiate standardized loan documents and related agreements.
• Advise on collateral, UCC Article 9 matters, lien priority, and enforcement for SMB and private banking programs.
• Guide compliance with applicable consumer and residential mortgage laws and regulations.
