Job summary

Iowa State University is seeking a Baker II for its dining services in Ames, IA. Under general supervision, you will oversee large-scale production of bakery goods and ensure sanitation of equipment and facilities.

You will supervise dough preparation, bake breads and desserts, and train staff in operation of bakery machinery, while maintaining safety and quality standards. This is a full-time, year-round role with night shifts.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as Baker I or outside experience comparable thereto.
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards for large-scale bakery operation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
• Ability to train and supervise other bakery staff as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in large-scale production of bread, rolls, muffins and similar items.
• Bakes cakes, cookies, pies, donuts and other desserts under supervision.
• Prepares icings, fillings and sauces for baked goods.
• Trains personnel in use of bakery equipment and maintains sanitation standards.
• Estimates bakery needs, maintains supplies and ensures safety requirements.
