Job summary

Hy-Vee's Newton location seeks an experienced Baker to prepare and bake all bakery products, ensuring freshness and quality while leading bakery clerks on busy shifts. You’ll manage production schedules, maintain sanitation, and provide friendly service to customers throughout the store.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 6 months to a year of related experience, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; department training is helpful.
• 6 months up to 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Stand for long periods; handle sharp and hot equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers with a smile and assisting them throughout the store.
• Prepare, bake, and fry department products; manage production schedule and prioritize orders.
• Lead bakery clerks, ensure proper sanitation, and maintain department standards.
• Check product freshness, rotate stock, and maintain accurate labels and signage.
• Order supplies and help write the department schedule; ensure coverage during the Bakery Manager's absence.
