Job summary

Pep Boys Inc in Alabama is seeking an Automotive Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, lead a shop team, and deliver excellent customer service by clearly explaining problems and proposed repairs to customers. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, 3+ years of repair experience, and ASE certifications (4+ preferred, Section 609 required).

Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4/A5 plus two of: A1, A6, A7, A8, L1)
• Section 609 certification required
• State Inspection license if applicable
• Valid driver's license
• Successful pre-employment background check
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to customers or staff clearly.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
