Job summary

Axion Recruitment Limited is recruiting an experienced Automation Engineer for an Oxford, CT manufacturing facility and contract manufacturer. You will lead complex automation projects involving robotics, PLCs, tooling and advanced manufacturing systems to improve production efficiency, quality and scalability.

The role requires hands-on PLC programming, robotics, and automation experience with integration of 3-axis to 6-axis robotics, EOAT design, and support for vision systems and sensors.

Qualifications

• Lead automation projects from concept through implementation.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
• Integrate and optimize robotics.
• Design fixtures and EOAT using CAD.
• Support vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and motion controls.
• Lead equipment validation and corrective actions.
• Manage capital equipment specifications and installation.
• Improve automation performance and process capability.
• Develop automation standards and mentor engineers and technicians.
• 5+ years’ automation or manufacturing engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation, robotics and tooling projects from concept through implementation.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
• Integrate and optimize 3-axis, 5-axis and 6-axis robotics.
• Design parts, fixtures and End-of-Arm Tooling using SolidWorks or Cimatron.
• Support vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and motion controls.
• Lead new equipment, product and automation validation.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Manage capital equipment specifications, justification and installation.
• Improve automation performance, downtime, cost and process capability.
• Develop automation standards and mentor engineers and technicians.
