Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Sr. Automation & Control Engineer in Fort Worth, TX. The role leads automation projects from concept through validation, develops system designs, coordinates vendors, and ensures cGMP compliance.

You will design and optimize PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and inspection systems while partnering with production teams to boost reliability, quality, and safety. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 2 years of relevant experience, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering.
• 2 years of relevant automation/engineering experience.
• Fluency in English required.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation and capital projects from concept through validation, including requirements development, system design, vendor coordination, installation, commissioning, and cGMP compliance.
• Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, inspection systems, and process controls).
• Partner with production teams to improve equipment reliability, throughput, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Manage capital projects and budgets up to $2M, develop business justifications, control costs, and make equipment and technology recommendations.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation (FRS, IQ/OQ/PQ, SOPs, change controls, risk assessments, CAPA automation improvements).
• Serve as technical lead for manufacturing automation initiatives, driving continuous improvement and validation activities.
