Job summary

Voyager Technologies in Penrose, CO is seeking an Automation and Controls Technician to support installation, wiring, testing, and maintenance of PLC-based control systems, robotics, and electrical cabinets across energetic materials manufacturing operations.

Under senior engineers, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and ensure safety protocols (LOTO, NFPA 70E) are followed while contributing to production programs and R&D projects.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certificate preferred.
Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Basic ladder logic and control system understanding.
Commitment to safety practices (LOTO, NFPA 70E).
Able to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment.

Responsibilities

Assist installation, wiring, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems across multiple hardware platforms.
Build and wire electrical cabinets; ensure NEC and UL508A compliance.
Troubleshoot faults with test equipment and assist root cause analysis.
Support networking of sensors, valves, PLCs, and control room systems.
Perform routine maintenance and participate in commissioning activities.
Maintain as-built drawings, BOMs, calibration records, and logs.
Follow safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures; maintain arc flash awareness.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Safety, and Compliance teams.
Assist with energetic materials production systems under strict safety and regulatory requirements.
