Job summary

Plaid is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead global accounting operations and strengthen our control environment. You will manage teams across GL, AP & T&E, handle month-end close, and partner with cross-functional partners to enable strategic decisions and public-company readiness.

You will drive system improvements, mentor a high-performing team, and ensure GAAP compliance in a fast-paced tech company with global reach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation required.
• 10+ years in accounting/finance with 5+ years in leadership at a public tech company.
• Deep U.S. GAAP knowledge including consolidations, ASC 842 leases, investments, accruals, and FX accounting.
• ERP systems proficiency (NetSuite preferred) and familiarity with accounting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop 10+ team members across GL, AP & T&E, international accounting, treasury, and finance systems.
• Oversee month-end close with accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
• Streamline processes and ensure GAAP compliance across complex areas.
• Mentor staff and grow a high-performing team with ownership mindset.
• Own finance systems roadmap and drive automation and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Corporate/Strategic Finance, Legal, Engineering to support growth.
• Provide accounting guidance to business partners for decision-making.
