Job summary

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA Inc. seeks a seasoned launch engineer to lead planning, installation and start-up of new model assembly processes in a high-volume automotive environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and international partners to ensure safety, quality and on-time production, while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, project management and startup experience with automation, robotics, and tooling.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Proficient with reading technical drawings and manuals.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute equipment vendor buyoffs to validate safety, quality, cycle time, ergonomic, and functional requirements in accordance with company manufacturing standards.
• Support equipment debugging, troubleshooting, and process stabilization activities during launch phases to achieve production targets related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Develop and implement effective countermeasures for equipment, process, and production issues through root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Support controls and automation activities including PLC troubleshooting, robot integration, torque systems, vision systems, poka-yoke devices, and automated material handling equipment.
• Review equipment specifications, layouts, and technical documentation to ensure alignment with manufacturing requirements and production objectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Suppliers, and external partners to ensure successful equipment integration and launch execution.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, production readiness requirements, and operational excellence principles throughout project execution.
• Establish strong team member relations at all levels and support coaching, mentoring, teamwork, and inclusion initiatives.
• Collaborate with international team members from Mazda, Toyota, and other customers.
• Running daily reports for KPI management of Quality & Productivity to help improve cost.
• Update timing and status of Engineering changes within Mazda unique and MTM specific databases and systems
• Supporting Engineering team with the creation of Standard operating procedures for process related equipment, tooling, etc. and submit them into the document control system
• Research and procure materials required for production processes as directed by engineering team to support Process change for new model introduction or process improvement activities
• Develop and maintain a database of spare parts and drawings for unique jigs, fixtures, tooling, etc.
• Setup and maintain a database of parts using SAP
• Create or reverse engineer unique parts use CAD or other 3D software as required for production
• Support with installation and initial setup of tools, pick lights and other production process needs
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Ability to work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
