Job summary

Dana Incorporated is seeking an Applications Engineer to provide technical support to internal and external customers and drive the launch process for drivetrain programs.

You will lead design reviews, coordinate with Dana groups, and manage product development from concept through production, across multiple programs. A four-year mechanical engineering degree and at least five years in powertrain design/manufacture are required, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) preferred or other engineering degree with strong product design experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design or manufacture of powertrain components & assemblies for automotive industry (axle, gearbox, PTU, propshaft, eDrive systems).
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and analytical capability.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build customer relationships and work across Dana and customer teams.
• Must have project management and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of automotive quality standards (APQP, DVP&R, 8D, PPAP, VE/VA, FMEA).
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Design Review (Launch) Process with Dana groups to meet program timing.
• Lead programs through launch and production issues.
• Engineer customer product development responsibilities across multiple programs.
• Use analysis tools to size driveshaft and related components for vehicle applications.
• Perform technical problem solving to address issues quickly.
• Develop design proposals to meet customer specs and test requirements.
• Prepare and conduct technical presentations for customers and Dana.
• Define proposals including sizing, priority, and requirements per the Design Review Process.
• Develop/manage documents like DVP&Rs and DFMEAs to support programs.
• Collaborate with Dana internal functions and external customers/suppliers throughout sourcing, development, launch, and production.
• Interface with customer engineering and other disciplines across build phases.
• Track and close Lessons Learned and share insights across programs.
• Perform other duties as required by Manager.
