Job summary

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking a Sr. Integration Architect to lead enterprise API strategy and back-end integrations. You will design scalable, secure patterns and champion API governance across business units.

The role requires hands-on experience with MuleSoft and major API gateways, plus REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and security protocols. On-site work across our districts, with a strong emphasis on performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in software design and development, with at least four years focused on enterprise integration architecture, APIs, and middleware.
• Hands-on experience with API gateways and management tools like MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Apigee, Kong.
• Mastery of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and SOAP, plus security patterns for data in transit and identity.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise-wide technical strategy for API management, middleware, and backend system integrations and develop reusable solution patterns.
• Design end-to-end integration flows using Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) to support synchronous and asynchronous processes.
• Establish and enforce standards for API design, versioning, data privacy, security and catalog discovery across units.
• Architect secure integration patterns utilizing OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, and API keys.
• Monitor, scale, and optimize high-throughput message brokers and API gateway topologies for low latency.
• Collaborate with Lines of Business to architect, implement and support integration solutions.
• Help install, configure, and support MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway platforms.
• Build strong cross-organizational relationships and influence staff across IT.
