Job summary

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking a Sr. Integration Architect to join the National Integration Services team.

You will design and implement enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and middleware across the Bank's systems, focusing on scalable, secure solutions. The role requires leadership, deep API platform experience with MuleSoft, API gateways, and cloud platforms, plus proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes to support high-throughput environments.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in software design and development with at least four years in enterprise integration architecture.
• Hands-on with API gateways and management tools (MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Apigee, Kong).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/OpenShift).
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and SOAP.
• Ability to translate complex constraints into clear business capabilities for non-technical executives.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise-wide API management strategy and standards.
• Design end-to-end integration flows using EIP to support synchronous and asynchronous processes.
• Architect secure integration patterns with identity protocols, encryption-in-transit, and firewalls.
• Monitor, scale, and optimize high-throughput message brokers and API gateway topologies.
• Work with Lines of Businesses to architect and support integration solutions.
• Help install, configure, and support MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway platforms.
• Build cross-organizational relationships and influence staff across IT.
