Job summary

Salem VA Medical Center is seeking an Anesthesiologist to maintain licensure and credentials and to provide anesthesia services under the Surgical Care Service Line in Salem, VA. This is a Temporary Not to Exceed 1 year position.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship requirement: United States Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited per VA Policy.
• Must hold a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a US state or territory or DC.
• Residency training completed in an approved core specialty leading to board certification eligibility.
• Board certification or board eligibility preferred.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anesthesia services and follow-up care for existing conditions and emergency cases.
• Deliver pre-operative and post-operative anesthesia services, including hospital rounds for surgical patients.
• Supervise CRNAs, CRNA students, residents and/or physician assistants.
• Develop and review policies for the Surgical Care Service Line and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in Morbidity and Mortality conferences and be available for on-call duties as needed.

Education

MD/DO degree or equivalent in allopathic/osteopathic medicine
