Job summary

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium seeks an Anesthesia Technician Manager to supervise anesthesia staff, coordinate inductions and emergences, and ensure adherence to safety standards across clinical sites in Alaska. The role requires leadership, staffing, and process optimization responsibilities.

The position includes overseeing HR duties, schedule optimization, and equipment calibration, with opportunities to drive innovation in anesthesia services and department operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or combination of education and experience.
  • Non-supervisory – 4 years of anesthesia technician experience.
  • Supervisory – Two (2) years of anesthesia technician supervisory experience.
  • Technologist Certification by American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs anesthesia support during all phases of patient care—induction, maintenance, and emergence—ensuring adherence to clinical standards and patient safety protocols.
  • Serves as the direct report for all Anesthesia Technicians and manages timekeeping, payroll, and HR duties for their staff.
  • Develops and implements daily anesthesia technician assignments to optimize workflow and support licensed anesthesia providers across all clinical sites.
  • Analyzes and prioritizes operating room and ULMC schedules; strategically allocates staffing and resources to maintain full coverage in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent schedule changes.
  • Mentors and role models, fostering a culture of excellence and driving positive change among anesthesia technicians through leadership and influence.
  • Oversees supply chain management for anesthesia services, including procurement, inventory control, and readiness of anesthesia carts and surgical areas.
  • Partners with Anesthesia Department leadership to ensure staff competency compliance, maintaining rigorous standards for training and certification.
  • Directs onboarding and orientation programs for new staff, manages scheduling, and delivers in-service education on emerging technologies, equipment, and best practices.
  • Establishes accountability for equipment calibration and safety checks, providing education and enforcing compliance to maintain operational integrity.
  • Provides strategic staffing input aligned with patient care needs and budgetary constraints, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Leads hiring initiatives and performance management processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and annual evaluations.
  • Cultivates collaborative relationships across surgical teams, ensuring seamless patient preparation and care coordination.
  • Maintains vendor partnerships to evaluate and integrate new technologies, positioning the department at the forefront of innovation.
