Job summary

Halian is seeking a Lead Android Developer to drive the design and implementation of high-performance consumer mobile apps. You will mentor engineers, lead Android initiatives, and shape architectural decisions while collaborating with product, design, QA, and backend teams.

The role emphasizes location-based features, RESTful API integration, and agile delivery within a 6+ month contract, with W2 terms for GC & USC holders.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Android app development experience.
• Proven publishing and maintenance on Google Play Store.
• Deep Kotlin and Jetpack Compose expertise.
• Experience with location-aware apps using maps.
• Strong knowledge of Android Studio, Gradle, and Java.
• Experience with MVC, MVVM, VIPER, and modern mobile architecture patterns.
• Solid understanding of OOP and SOLID principles.
• Experience building consumer-facing mobile applications.
• Strong experience integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with Material Design principles.
• Experience using Git and source control best practices.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Lead the development of scalable, high-quality mobile solutions aligned with business and user requirements.
• Build and enhance location-based features using mapping technologies such as Google Maps, HERE Maps, or Mapbox.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate backend services into mobile applications.
• Ensure application performance, reliability, responsiveness, and maintainability.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and promote best practices, coding standards, and architectural consistency.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute innovative technical solutions.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, QA, and backend teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support CI/CD processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and Agile ceremonies.
