Job summary

Speechify is seeking an Android Team Lead to own core product work and raise how the team operates. This is a hands-on role where you will write code, review code, and own features from concept to release.

You will lead major features end to end, maintain reliability, review PRs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to deliver high-quality Android experiences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software engineering experience with leadership or ownership of major surfaces, while staying hands-on.
• Strong Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android services, animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Understanding of testing importance and how to write them effectively.
• A track record of introducing lasting improvements to a team.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end with design, from decision through release.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests with constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when progress stalls and provide guidance.
• Move versions forward so the team uses the best approach.
