Job summary

Hewlett Packard Co. in the United States is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the development of AI-powered mobile experiences for retail.

You will collaborate with product owners, SMEs, and customers to translate requirements into working software across Android apps, backend services, and AI agents. You will mentor engineers, shape engineering practices, and ensure production-ready delivery with secure integrations, testing, CI/CD, and scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership and hands-on development from concept through production.
• Proven experience building AI applications using large language models, agent frameworks or harnesses, tool calling, retrieval, inference, and evaluation.
• Strong Android development experience and integrating mobile software with backend services and enterprise systems.
• Experience working with customers or customer IT to define features and resolve technical issues.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools; retail technology experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development from concept to production readiness across Android apps, backend services, and AI agents.
• Collaborate with product owners, SMEs, and customers to translate requirements and define acceptance criteria.
• Validate features, troubleshoot integration issues, and implement fixes with feedback from customer IT.
• Build and maintain agent harnesses connecting AI models with context, tools, memory, and workflows.
• Select, integrate, and evaluate AI models for reasoning, tool use and vision; optimize performance and cost.
• Establish engineering practices for AI-assisted coding, testing, security, CI, and releases; ensure verifiability.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and lead technical issue resolution; translate requirements into reusable capabilities.
