Job summary

HP Inc. is seeking a Retail Software Engineer to lead development of AI-powered mobile experiences for the retail industry.

You will translate requirements into working software, partnering with product owners, SMEs, and customers to deliver reliable, scalable commercial products. Responsibilities include leading end‑to‑end development across Android apps and backend services, mentoring engineers, and ensuring secure, testable releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience including technical leadership and hands‑on development of new products from concept through production.
• Demonstrated experience building AI applications using large language models, agent frameworks or harnesses, tool calling, retrieval, inference, and evaluation.
• Strong experience developing Android applications and integrating mobile software with backend services, enterprise systems, and device capabilities.
• Experience working with customers, customer IT, or customer‑facing engineers to develop features and resolve technical issues; retail technology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development from concept through production readiness across Android apps, backend services, and AI agents.
• Collaborate with product owner and customers to define acceptance criteria and priorities.
• Gather feedback from customers and IT to validate features and troubleshoot integration issues.
• Build and maintain agent harnesses connecting AI models with context, tools, memory, permissions, and workflows.
• Select and evaluate AI models for reasoning, tool use, and vision; optimize latency, reliability and cost.
