Job summary

Target is seeking a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Platforms to accelerate adoption of Target's enterprise AI platform. You will combine hands-on engineering with architecture guidance to deliver production-grade AI applications and reusable platform capabilities.

You will work across product, engineering, and platform teams, addressing adoption friction, and translating patterns into scalable solutions while upholding engineering quality and security standards.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 5+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on engineering.
• Expertise in software architecture, distributed systems and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with production AI apps using LLMs, agentic architectures, model APIs and retrieval patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex technical engagements to accelerate enterprise AI platform adoption.
• Design, build, and productionize AI solutions and tooling for platform capabilities.
• Guide architectural decisions and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions across teams.
• Improve reliability, security, observability, and ops readiness of production AI systems.
• Collaborate across product, engineering, and platform teams to share learnings.
