Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, a leader in health care innovation, is seeking a Lead AI/ML Engineer for Digital Experience. This remote role supports Enterprise Finance with AI-powered solutions, including LLMs, RAG, and agents, to drive decision-making and efficiency.

You’ll collaborate with Finance, Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Responsible AI teams to deliver scalable, governed AI solutions while maintaining enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (e.g., 4+ years of relevant software/AI engineering).
• 5+ years of software engineering, machine learning, or AI engineering experience.
• 3+ years of cloud-native architectures, APIs, data platforms, and scalable systems.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying generative AI and LLM-based applications.
• 2+ years of prompt engineering, RAG architectures, AI agents, model evaluation, and governance.
• Experience applying Responsible AI, security, privacy, and compliance in enterprise software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions with responsible use of AI.
• Architect AI solutions aligned with objectives, risk, and governance.
• Develop LLM workflows, prompt strategies, agent-based & RAG applications.
• Evaluate trends; improve platform capabilities and innovation.
• Ensure trusted, governed data sources and model performance benchmarks.
• Support production readiness with observability and drift detection.
