Job summary

Bain AI, Insights & Solutions (AIS) is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and ship generative AI systems for Bain’s clients. You will work across the full development lifecycle, prototyping through production, collaborating with senior engineers, product managers, and data scientists in a hands‑on, contributor role with growing influence.

You’ll partner with Bain’s ecosystem to deploy agentic solutions, apply strong engineering principles, and mentor junior team members while expanding

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles.
• Shipping generative AI features end‑to‑end from prototyping to production.
• Clear communication with non‑technical stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and data science; mentoring is a plus.
• Strong prompt engineering and context engineering skills.
• Familiarity with evaluation design, experimentation, and data labeling for LLM apps.
• Experience with RAG architectures, agentic patterns, and HITL concepts.
• Knowledge of cost and latency tradeoffs in LLM workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy end‑to‑end generative AI systems and multi‑agent workflows.
• Iterate on AI pipelines including RAG, embedding optimization, and hybrid retrieval strategies.
• Implement reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Develop agentic systems with robust memory and tool integration.
• Contribute to full stack: model experimentation, evaluation, and production deployment.
• Build and maintain APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud deployments with observability.
• Support GenAIOps processes for testing, latency monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Balance performance, safety, and cost; implement guardrails and HITL workflows.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, ethics, and infra teams.
• Share knowledge on RAG, agents, prompt engineering, and AI safety.
